Shows scheduled are:

Wednesday May 6 - Shannon Curfman

(Barb Hamilton opening)

Shannon Curfman was born July 31, 1985 in Fargo, North Dakota. She came to prominence in 1999, at the age of 14, with the release of her first album, Loud Guitars, Big Suspicions. Playboy Magazine described it as "the most impressive debut by a blues artist since Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood. Shannon plays guitar as if she's channeling both SRV and Jimi Hendrix." Her latest CD is  called "Fast Lane Addiction". http://www.shannoncurfman.com and http://www.myspace.com/shannoncurfmanrocks

Wednesday June 17 - Joanne Shaw Taylor

Joanne was born and raised amidst the coal mines of Great Britain’s Black Country. She picked up a guitar and got turned on to the blues as a very young teenager and for the last couple of years, she has been busy redefining the meaning of the cliché, "plays like a girl".  If you can imagine the love child of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Dusty Springfield then you are beginning to get a feel for Joanne’s mixture of fiery guitar playing, sultry vocals and 100% pure soul. Joanne's debut album "white sugar" was released in January 2009 on Ruf Records http://www.joanneshawtaylor.com and http://www.myspace.com/joanneshawtaylor

Wednesday July 22 - Joanna Conner

Joanna Connor is a complete guitar package and vocalist extraordinaire.  She covers the range of modern blues, slide guitar and blues rock with her own compositions very much influenced by funk, rock, jazz and world music as well as delta blues.  Her sense of melody, phrasing and dynamics along with a very modern technique make her a very funky, soulful and compelling guitarist.  As for vocal abilities, if Joanna wasn't a guitarist, she could easily be a lead singer in any band. The Joanna Connor is a frequent attraction at leading blues nightspots and a featured act at major festivals in the USA and Canada. 8:00pm show featuring Joanna performing in an acoustic format. http://www.joannaconnorband.com

Donna Herula - (Opening at 7:00pm for Joanna Conner) Donna is a Chicago born singer and guitarist who plays traditional Classic, Country and Delta blues.  She plays fingerstyle as well as bottleneck blues slide guitar. In her solo acoustic act, Donna performs the songs of the early blues women, including Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Memphis Minnie, who had once achieved great commercial success in the 1920’s and 1930’s. In addition, she plays the music of other early blues musicians such as Robert Johnson, Furry Lewis and Blind Blake. Donna has played a number of venues including bars, clubs, cafes, restaurants, schools, benefits and festivals. Donna was a semi-finalist in the 2009 International Blues Challenge solo/duet competition. http://www.donnaherula.com  and http://www.myspace.com/donnaherula

Wednesday August 12 - Laurie Morvan Band

"Where are the girls with guitars?" Laurie Morvan sings on her CD "Cures What Ails You". That CD was a finalist in the Blues Foundations 2008 "Best Self Produced CD" competition. Hailing form Long Beach, California, Laurie and her band made it all the way to the finals of the 2008 International Blues Challenge, an event normally dominated by male guitar players. On most numbers, the energized, leg kicking, stage pacing Morvan plays the guitar intensely hard. It is obvious she likes being on the edge of all that amplified power sort of like a surfer riding on the edge of a huge wave. Laurie's guitar playing has been featured by both Guitar Player Magazine and Modern Guitar Magazine. http://www.lauriemorvan.com   and http://www.myspace.com/lauriemorvanband
